Pretty fun. Maybe the torpedoes could have the choice of being shot from different directions, based on which ones you load or how you load them pre-battle? Definitely a cool proof of concept, and I'm very curious to see how this would develop. Maybe some stronger weapons that need certain ammo for, otherwise it damages the ship/alerts the enemy to the ship's location? It would also be nice for the enemy to be able to recognize ships it damages and attack accordingly, since most of the time it seemed that even the final boss just shot at random. Of course, that could be hard to manage with how ship damage currently works, which is why I'm curious on how you would further develop this idea. Planes were really a nothingburger here, but that seems like a feature that would need multiple maps to fully experience, since you don't get a lot of time to build your airforce before you face the final boss, who's final fleet loadout makes it basically impossible to have better airplanes than her. In fact, the boss herself shows how useful a fully built airforce could be, just a shame that there really wasn't any time to build anything usable against any of the available fights. Overall, quite nice, and I'm looking forward to what you make next, even if this gets scrapped in the end.
Thanks for your comment :)
I totally agree with you on planes, it’s a mechanic that was quite developed but when we made the levels we realized we were missing time to really make it shine, definitely one of the big thing I want to improve if we continue this!
For the enemy attacks, I was planning to improve the AI but realized that for the prototype, it might make the challenge a bit too tough so it was let as if, but yeah that’ll be a very important point to think on!
For the rest, we are taking notes (I definitly want to add more ammo/equipement types), thanks again :)
Out of 3 runs (1 win) air combat did anything only once so maybe make it easier to have an effect; if i understand right you need to have bomber planes and have more fighter planes than the opp fighter+AA which seems pretty hard. Somehow while i had the fleet menu open and was clicking around i managed to click and travel to the nodes on the map that i couldn't even see; might be related to not being able to click on destroyed sections of a ship (i didn't understand that at first)
Air battle is definitly something I would have liked to work more on, it was planned for the player to be able to get aircraft carrier (and thus more chances of getting fighters) but we couldn’t implement it in time
For the map bug it’s good to know, I’ll need to have a look, thanks :)
I enjoyed my time with it. The pirate definitely seems like the easier character.
I didn't know how to operate any of the extra weapons, so maybe a tutorial on those would be helpful.
I like the monster girl designs. They look very neat and fishy.
Thank you for your comment :)
Weapon wise, most of them are support roles (mostly related to air battle), the only active one is torpedoes which allow you to fire in a straight line
When you get a new weapon, you can equip it with the “Fleet” button on the top, but you’ll also need ammo (that you can get with cyan nodes), don’t forget to also assign them to a ship afterward
